Something about night I like is a sense of tranquility that masks busy urban life.

Alcatraz

cruising-by-alcatraz-s Alcatraz

There is a part of me wanting to capture images of Alcatraz for some unknown reason. I pondered why - but never came up with a good reason. I think there is some mysterious quality to this island as I enjoy the view of the Bay.

Now, it serves tourism and as an object of thousands of snapshots each day. Maybe, sometimes we need an icon to remind us of some dark past.

Marina, San Francisco

marina-walk-s Marina, San Francisco

I rarely go to Marina in the city now days. However, with our kids out of school and running out things to do, I dropped my wife and kids off at the Exploratorium for a couple of hours.

Though the weather has been gloomy, I parked my car at Marina and walked around for a photo opportunity. Luckily, I saw this lady out for a walk and was able to get this shot off.

Marin Headlands from Baker Beach

marin-headlands-bw-s Marin Headlands from Baker Beach

For the first time in seventeen years of residence, I visited Baker Beach and saw this amazing view. The day was chilly but crystal clear. And the clouds were majestic and full of movement.

I never thought of it. . .but, winter is a great time for photography or other artistic interests for the Bay Area. From now on, I can long for winter days when I don’t have to fight the hazy sky for a nice picture.
